Held Cloudburst Waterproof Over-Jeans - Black

What a clever idea, needed these, couldn't get into my old ones with big boots, not cheap, but worth it

Look and feel like a quality item. Not had a chance to use in anger, but they certainly look the part. Very quick delivery as usual.

I've been through a few pairs of cheaper waterproof pants now and they all suffer the same problems.

1. Water gets in around the crotch leaving you looking like you wet yourself by the time you arrive at work. Not cool!

2. Pants underneath are usually longer, so you have to either tuck them into socks or boots or they get wet too as the waterproofs ride up.

When I saw how many different models of waterproof pant Held have I thought they really must take it seriously. The stirrups were a big selling point for me and they do work well. Makes the pant a little tight so you lose some of your movement in your feet which can sometimes leave you under-pressing the gear lever, but I think I'll get used to that.

The extra grip around the bum does a good job of keeping you in place on the seat.

So far I have tested these in heavy rain and nothing got through. On that alone I would have given 4 stars as really that is more than I can say for my Richa ones.

The zips on the side are of fantastic quality and I wasn't even aware they go all the way up to the hip. I don't have much use for that, but it's nice to have for sure.

So where do they lose a star? Thickness basically. They are super super thin feeling. While this is common for waterproof pants, I expected a bit more for the price paid. A good snag on a sharp bit of the bike and I think it could tear these. The worst part is that my old Richa ones made a good wind breaker too, but these do not. If anything the material seems to hold the cold in. I won't make a big deal of that though. Pretty sure Held do some with a thermal liner too. This is what I get for wanting a pair that will work in summer as well as winter. You can rarely have everything and expect it to work perfectly.

So, in summary I'm very happy with them. They keep the water out which is all one can really ask. They might be twice the price of the rest, but if they work when the others do not, I consider that money well spent. It's rare these days, but sometimes you do get what you pay for.

I wear XL clothing and ordered XL over-trousers - perfect.

Good trousers. Side zips feel robust and therefore easy to get on and off without removing boots. Sizing took account of wearing riding trousers.
